Lyrics to When The Saints Go Marching In, When You're Smiling, IKO IKO and Walkin' to New Orleans

I was told that you could find the lyrics to the above songs on this Blog, so here they are:

When The Saints Go Marching In (Artist: Louis Armstrong)

We are traveling in the footsteps
Of those who’ve gone before
But we’ll all be reunited
On a new and sunlit shore

Oh when the saints go marching in
When the saints go marching in
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

And when the sun refuse (begins) to shine
And when the sun refuse (begins) to shine
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When the moon turns red with blood
When the moon turns red with blood
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

On that hallelujah day
On that hallelujah day
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

Oh when the trumpet sounds the call
Oh when the trumpet sounds the call
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

Some say this world of trouble
Is the only one we need
But I’m waiting for that morning
When the new world is revealed

When the revelation (revolution) comes
When the revelation (revolution) comes
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When the rich go out and work
When the rich go out and work
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When the air is pure and clean
When the air is pure and clean
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When we all have food to eat
When we all have food to eat
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When our leaders learn to cry
When our leaders learn to cry
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When Your Smiling (Shay, Fisher, and Goodwin )

When you're smilin'....keep on smilin'
The whole world smiles with you
And when you're laughin'....keep on laughin'
The sun comes shinin' through

But when you're cryin'.... you bring on the rain
So stop your frownin'....be happy again
Cause when you're smilin'....keep on smilin'
The whole world smiles with you

Oh when you're smilin'....keep on smilin'
The whole world smiles with you
Ah when you're laughin'....keep on laughin'
The sun comes shinin' through

Now when you're cryin'.... you bring on the rain
So stop that sighin'....be happy again
Cause when you're smilin'....just keep on smilin'
And the whole world gonna smile with

The great big world will smile with
The whole wide world will smile with you

Walkin' to New Orleans (Bobby Charles, written for and recorded by Fats Domino.)

It's time I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm going to need two pair of shoes
When I get through walkin' to you
When I get back to New Orleans

I've got my suitcase in my hand
Now, ain't that a shame
I'm leavin' here today
Yes, I'm goin' back home to stay
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans

You used to be my honey
Till you spent all my money
No use for you to cry
I'll see you bye and bye
Cause I'm walkin' to New Orleans

I've got no time for talkin'
I've got to keep on walkin'
New Orleans is my home
That's the reason why I'm goin'
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans
FADE:
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans

Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center Renovation

This week I had the privilege of touring the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center building on 17th and Yesler Ave.  As many of you know, the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center facility is currently undergoing a major renovation and will not be completed until early next year.  The building itself was a renown synagogue in the Central Area of Seattle until it was purchased in 1959 as a cultural arts center by the Model Cities Program.
Walt Hundley

In 1973, Walt Hundley, Superintendent of Parksbrought the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center under the umbrella of the Parks Department for its continued use as a cultural arts center.

It is an awe inspiring structure that has not only kept its physical integrity, its historical significance continues to symbolize the long relationship between two cultures sharing and embracing their artistic Diasporas.  This long time embracing of the Art of the African Diaspora in Seattle by the Seattle Jewish community is still very strong today.  The reverence and respect to Jewish culture by the City and the Langston Hughes leadership is a welcome change to the usual lack of knowledge and the lack respect for a community’s history and culture by many renovation projects in today’s society.

Talking Arts TV Channel

Doing a little advance research on using Web based live video streaming of arts events in and throughout the Northwest.  All you have to do is "CLICK" on the link below and it should take you to the "Channel" where you can see these LIVE events (of course when there is something being broadcast).  A number of my friends have talked about doing this but not many have made it happen as yet.  Check it out:
